Connectivity of Conflicts in Sudan

Dr. Lobban will discuss the complex Sudanese situation where the Darfur conflict continues unresolved and southern Sudan, with its oil reserves, will soon hold a referendum on possible independence. The lecture will analyze the connectivity of these events, their potential impact on Sudan, and the wider implications for Africa and major world powers.
Speaker Richard Lobban Bio:
Richard Andrew Lobban, Jr. is Professor of Anthropology and African Studies at Rhode Island College where he served as Director, Program of African and Afro-American Studies. Robert Kramer is Associate Professor of History at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin, where he teaches courses on Africa and the Middle East. Carolyn Fluehr-Lobban is Professor of Anthropology and Director of General Education at Rhode Island College.
