Barbara Lee '67, '01HD Named Co-Chair of Martha Coakley Senate Campaign
(October 30, 2009) -- Attorney General Martha Coakley announced recently that Barbara Lee '67, '01HD, president of the Barbara Lee Family Foundation, will co-chair Coakley's U.S. Senate campaign.
In a release from the Coakley campaign, Lee said, "I have known and worked with Martha Coakley for many years, and I am proud to be the Co-Chair for her campaign. We need Martha Coakley fighting for Massachusetts in Washington. Martha has the intelligence and the drive to move Massachusetts forward, and I am committed to help elect her the first woman Senator from the Commonwealth." Ralph Martin II, former Suffolk County District Attorney, will serve as the other co-chair. Coakley became the first female Attorney General for Massachusetts in January, 2007. While in office her focus has been on mitigating the foreclosure crisis, lowering energy and healthcare costs, and the environment, particularly renewable energy.
