(July 1, 2009) -- I had lunch yesterday with two friends, one of whom is 92 years old and just back from her 70th college reunion. She was filled with feelings about what it had been like to be one of only four class members attending the reunion and with stories about living in a dorm after all these years. I joined in and said that I had recently attended my 40th reunion at Simmons. Then we both turned to our third friend, who like each of us, had attended a small women's college. We asked her if she had gone to her reunion and she said, "I never got into the reunion groove."

(June 1, 2009) - - Congratulations to this year's seniors, who achieved a 35% participation rate for their Senior Class Gift – the highest of any senior class gift campaign ever. The Simmons Alumnae Association had challenged the Class of 2009 to reach a giving rate of 30% participation, an ambitious goal the students not only met but definitively surpassed. Because of this achievement, the Alumnae Association Executive Board (AAEB) awarded the Senior Class Gift campaign $2,009.

(May 29, 2009) -- Earlier this year, SHS Dean Gerry Koocher and Associate Dean and Chair of Nursing Judy Beal accepted an invitation from Prince Sultan University (PSU) to visit Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. While there, the SHS signed a memorandum of understanding with PSU to develop a graduate program in maternal-child health nursing for Saudi women who have completed undergraduate science degrees in the Kingdom.

Professor Sue Stafford has been teaching philosophy at Simmons for the past 18 years. In addition to being a dedicated teacher, she's also an avid sailor, a pilot, and a gardener. She says her interests have always revolved around the environment: "I live in it, fly in it, sail in it, garden in it, and am concerned about sustaining it."
