GSLIS Alumni Board:
The BylaWs of the GSLIS Alumni Association state that its purpose "is to preserve a cordial bond between the Simmons College Library School alumni and the Library School." The role of the Association is to "maintain an interest in recruiting qualified individuals, ... financially assisting needy students presently enrolled, ... and in encouraging graduates and promoting interest in continued education and professional development."
Graduates are automatic members of the Alumni Association and are encouraged to participate in events sponsored by the Alumni Association and GSLIS. Alumni are invited to special events sponsored by the Association and by the College, to alumni receptions held at the annual conferences of ALA and SLA, and the annual phonathon, which raises money for the graduate school.
The Association is administered by the Governing Board, whose members are elected at the annual business meeting held during Alumni and Professional Development Day. The Governing Board consists of the immediate Past President, President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and three Directors. The Board also includes these non-voting members: a representative from Alumni Relations, a representative from GSLIS administration, LISSA Student Representative, and Committee Chairpersons.
