President Drinan and Simmons Honored at Girls' LEAP Gala

(March 29, 2013) -- At the annual Girls' LEAP Gala on March 28, Simmons College was recognized for its longstanding support of their efforts and named President Helen G. Drinan '75LS, '78SM as the institutional recipient. This recognition came as a result of the commitment of the Scott/Ross Center staff, led by Steve London, and its many student volunteers.

"It was a great evening for the girls, staff, and leadership at Girls' LEAP and Simmons," says President Drinan.

Girls' LEAP focuses on the emotional and physical health of young girls and aims to help girls use their educated voices to protect and empower themselves. Previous honorees have included: Massachusetts' First Lady Diane Patrick; Dr. Deborah Prothrow-Stith, a nationally recognized public health leader; and CEO and President of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Andrew Dreyfus.
